Knockout Knits is a beautiful book to just look at! The pictures of knitted projects are certainly drool-worthy! I haven't knitted anything from it, yet, but I love that the projects are from small quick knits, such as cuffs or hand warmers all the way to more detailed shawls or shrugs. There are plenty of beautiful hat patterns as well.I love how the book is set up. Each chapter introduces a new technique, such as chart reading, then starts with a very simple and quick project to help the knitter get a bit of practice. But the book isn't only for beginners, each chapter goes on to more detailed and advanced projects, building on previous knowledge.
I know some of you that read my blog are knitters as well. Question for you... do you, over time, lose a bit of excitement for that craft? Or maybe lose it for a time, but then it comes back to you? I do know that when I have a lot going on, or I'm feeling stressed, my creativity is the first thing out the window! (Thus the drop off in Finished Object Fridays as well...) And a certain little one does take up a bit of time... I wouldn't trade her for the world though!!! She is at a wonderful, fun age and is so much fun to be with!! (Provided she's had her naps...) ;) I'm just hoping that my exuberance for all things crafty will return at some point...

At the beginning of this year I was going to make this THE year I always had a knitting project going on. Alas, I finished a shawl mid-January and I haven't even blocked it yet. It's still in my project bag and I've not knit anything since then. :( Not what I expected out of this year! I need to at least block it so I can wear it.
ReplyDeleteSo, to answer your question...yes? no? maybe? I claim to be a knitter also! I don't know why my interest has waned though I will say that if I had more money to put into my knitting I'd probably be a little more enthusiastic!
I think I've lacked inspiration... I have enough yarn to keep me going for a while. But what do I do when I finally DID get inspired for a project? Why, go buy more yarn, of course! :P
DeleteYes, I have lost my knitting craftiness in the past. But, I always find it when I come across an item that I want to knit. I'm knitting two little sweaters for my new grand niece and nephew at the time. I completely understand about not having the time to knit. Now's the time to be enjoying your precious gift, knitting can be done whenever you find the time.
ReplyDeleteI am certainly enjoying her! She's so much fun! :) Thank you! I have found a little inspiration, we'll see if it sticks. I'd like to get some dishcloths knitted for stocking stuffers... :D
DeleteI left a comment last night, but with all of the interruptions from my children, I guess I forgot to hit publish. Oops!
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of this book coming to review, and now I'm even more excited about it! Maybe I'll even make something for me.
As for losing my interest in knitting, I don't. Actually, when I get stressed I long to knit, and look forward to the time when I can. Knitting relaxes me, and I can feel it when I haven't done any for a few days. (I'm starting to go cross-eyed because I haven't knitted since Monday.) I get excited when I start a new project or finish one. I'm excited when I realize that I'm farther along than I thought. And I get excited when I'm using a color that I love. So maybe I'm not much help. ;) I'm sure you'll get your desire back, especially when you find the perfect thing to make for your little girl.
Knitting is very relaxing! (As is spinning for me... hoping I get to have a good place for my wheel once we get into a house!) I've started a fun little project and it's come along rather quickly!
DeleteThank you, Ladies! You've inspired me! ;) I've done a bit more knitting!!! I'll try to post an update tomorrow when I have better lighting.
