Cousins

My cousin Jennifer came down with her husband and two kids from IN for a quick visit last weekend. She wanted us to have a chance to meet our newest cousin before she got big. We really enjoyed visiting with them and meeting baby B!

Spring in Texas!

This is for all those who don't know how beautiful Texas is in the spring, and especially for those who think all Texas has is cactus and tumbleweeds! :) We are enjoying this beautiful spring weather and flowers!!!!

Latest Projects

I know I haven't posted much of my knitting, but I have been busy with it. These are a few of my latest projects. I have enjoyed learning some new patterns. I also like making things for babies because they are smaller and I can finish them faster.

This is a booty and bib set that I sent up to baby Zachary A.
just born to friends in Colorado last week.

These hats are knitted on the round,
which is a lot of fun and goes fast, plus it naturally creates the curled up brim.
I found a variety of hat patterns, but modified them for this
- I didn't want to have to decrease
and go to double-pointed needles.
I was aiming for a twenties cloche look. I think I succeeded.
Later I will post pictures of the recipients modeling them.
The booties are a simple mules pattern found on knittinghelp.com.

All of these are made with Bernat cottontots yarn. I love it because it is 100% cotton and it seems to wash well. It is also very soft, and I love the different colors!

Fun Weekend!

We had a very good weekend, even though it was so busy! :) My Creative Memories party/brunch turned out well. Everyone had a good time, I think, even the youngest ones! We had fun visiting, eating, scrapbooking, and taking turns holding the baby! :)

The concert was great too!! The Collingworth Family really stole the show, in my opinion. It was also fun visiting with friends Jason and Regi B! We were very tired Sunday with the time change and everything, but it was all worth it!! :)

Busy, busy!!

Whew, this has been a busy week, and it's not over! :) I worked my regular job (part time) on Tues. and Wed. and started a new part time job yesterday! I am having company tonight - Mark's family, a Creative Memories party tomorrow, and we are going to a concert tomorrow night! - Gold City, Triumphant Quartet and the Collingsworth family! It should be fun! Oh, and of course the time changes this weekend. Don't forget!! Have a great weekend!!!

Finally Finished!!!

I finally finished my bachelor's degree after 6 full years and three different colleges!! After getting my associates degree at GBS, I went to a junior college for a couple of years to pick up some credits. Last May, I graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a degree in History.

Our House!

We bought our first home in August. It is kindof out in the "country" - about a mile off the main road, past all the cow pastures. :) We are really enjoying it! It is a lot quieter than apartment living! These pictures were taken last summer/fall. I hope our grass is that green this year. The trees aren't that green yet, but everything is starting to leaf out. Spring is here!!

We have done a lot of work on the inside, with a LOT of help from family and friends!!

Today in 1836, Texans declared their independence from Mexico. Forty-one delegates met at Washington-on-the-Brazos and unanimously adopted a Declaration of Independence. The Republic of Texas is Born!

Knitting

I knitted several scarves for Christmas gifts last year. Here are a couple of them. I think they made a hit! The one in the hot pink is my sister Angie - she likes things the brighter the better! I couldn't pass up this yarn for her!



Below is my sister-in-law, Lauren. I think she liked her scarf as well. It is very soft!!
