Today in 1836, Texans declared their independence from Mexico. Forty-one delegates met at Washington-on-the-Brazos and unanimously adopted a Declaration of Independence. The Republic of Texas is Born!

This picture was taken at the Texas Civil War Museum in Fort Worth. The flag is a 1839 Republic flag, note the tilted star. It is part of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Texas Confederate Collection. (also note Mark reflected in the glass.) :)
